This morning we successfully tried some net rides at the obs that were completely sheltered in the 25 mph southwesterly winds of today. This will give us greater flexibility in the future to monitor migration during more marginal weather conditions when good numbers of grounded migrants can be present.
 
Offshore
2 Gannets west, 33 Common Scoters west, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers west, 5 Red-throated Divers west, 1 Great Crested Grebe west, 12 Kittiwakes west, 4 Little Gulls, 2 Sandwich Terns west, 1 juv. Common Tern west, 1 Guillemot west and 6 Auk sp.west.
 
Grounded Migrants 
2 Wheatears, 6 Blackbirds at dawn, 1 Chiffchaff  and 9 Goldcrests.
 
Others
425 Lapwings, 8 Golden Plovers, 1 Greenshank, 27 Black-tailed Godwits, 36 Dunlin, 1 Little Egret, 38 Wigeon, 100 Teal, 1 1CY Yellow -legged Gull and 2 Med. Gulls.
 
Ringing
1 Robin and 2 Goldcrests.
