A Shore Lark was found on the beach at Rossall Point this morning and it is only the second ever record for the Observatory. The last record was of two birds at the same site way back on the 13th February 1970!! The bird showed very well during the afternoon feeding on the strand line by the sea wall.

13 Common Scoters west, 16 Red-breasted Mergansers, 3 Red-throated Divers west and 2 on the sea, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Guillemot and 5 Auk sp. west.

1 Little Egret, 1 Merlin, 28 Ringed Plovers, 65 Golden Plovers, 800 Lapwings, 1 Purple Sandpiper, 600 Dunlins, 3 Jack Snipes, 57 Snipe, 255 Black-tailed Godwits, 215 Turnstones, 1 Shore Lark, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 4 Stonechats, 1 Grey Wagtail, 9 Rock Pipits and 16 Twite.
