A light easterly wind, overcast conditions and rain showers before dawn produced a fall on the peninsular today. The main birds involved were Thrushes, Goldcrests, Chiffchaffs and Wheatears, with Garganey and Yellow Wagtail new for the year. 

Today we gained access to some newly created lagoons on the peninsular that look superb and were already full of birds including Garganey.

Offshore 

3 Wigeon, 21 Teal, 14 Common Scoters east, 16 Red-breasted Mergansers, 5 Red-throated Divers, 3 Gannets west, 1 Curlew east, 2 Little Gulls east, 11 Sandwich Terns, 2 Common Terns east, 4 Arctic Terns east and 14 Razorbills. Also 1 Atlantic Grey Seal.

Visible Migration 

1 Osprey north along the river at 18:45, 6 Woodpigeons east, 5 Sand Martins north, 1 Swallow north, 1 House Martin north, 6 Fieldfares south-east, 23 Redwings south-east, 9 Alba Wagtails north, 428 Meadow Pipits north, 1 Chaffinch east, 6 Goldfinch east, 6 Siskins east, 3 Linnets east and 2 Redpolls east.

Grounded Migrants 

2 Garganeys, 1 Short-eared Owl, 40 Goldcrests, 3 Coal Tits, 5 Sand Martins, 2 Swallows, 25 Chiffchaffs, 1 Willow Warbler, 2 Ring Ouzels found in the east fields during the evening, 40 Blackbirds, 9 Fieldfares, 10 Song Thrushes, 77 Redwings, 5 Robins, 64 Wheatears, 1 Yellow Wagtail and 4 White Wagtails.

46 Teals, 16 Shovelers, 1 Buzzard, 1 Water Rail, 11 Grey Plovers, 400 Knot, 11 Snipe, 31 Black-tailed Godwits, 250 Turnstones and 1 Barn Owl.

Ringing

16 Goldcrests, 3 Chiffchaffs and 1 Willow Warbler.
