There was an arrival of migrants today with birds arriving throughout the morning. The increasingly strong SSE wind and rain showers made viewing difficult, but with persistence migrants were found.

Offshore
16 Shelducks east and 11 west, 37 Wigeons west, 35 Common Scoters west, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers west, 5 Red-throated Divers west & 1 on the sea, 7 Gannets west, 2 Guillemots west & 1 on the sea and 4 Sandwich Terns.

Visible Migration:
19 Skylarks south, 4 Swallows south, 2 Grey Wagtails south, 16 Alba Wagtails south, 147 Meadow Pipits south and 2 Chaffinch south-east.

Grounded Migrants 
25 Goldcrests, 12 Chiffchaffs, 4 Blackcaps, 6 Song Thrushes, 1 Redwing, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 20 Robins, 2 Whinchats, 7 Stonechats, 18 Wheatears, 1 Yellow Wagtail and 1 Rock Pipit.

Others
300 Pink-footed Geese, 160 Wigeons, 65 Teal, 1 Pintail, 1 Garganey, 7 Shovelers, 8 Little Egrets, 72 Ringed Plovers, 470 Lapwings, 36 Black-tailed Godwits, 160 Turnstones, 2 Ruffs, 170 Sanderlings, 42 Dunlins, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Spotted Redshank, 1 Greenshank, 3 Med. Gulls, 4 Stock Doves, 1 Kingfisher and 75 Goldfinch.

Ringing
3 Goldcrests and 1 Blue Tit.
