The wind eased down during the morning, the sun came out and it became warm
and humid during the afternoon. This kick started a movement of Swallows and a total of 2,141
moved south between 12:30 -16:00. Also an Osprey came in off the sea.
Offshore
32 Shelducks east, 44 Common Scoters west, 4 Gannets west, 1 Great
Crested Grebe west, 2 Kittiwakes west, 250 Sandwich Terns and 2 Common Terns.
Visible Migration
1 Osprey 'in-off' mid afternoon, 1 Swift south, 6 Sand
Martins south, 2,141 Swallows south, 57 House Martins south, 3 Meadow Pipits south, 3 Grey Wagtails south
and 4 Alba Wagtails south.
Swallow
Grounded Migrants:
1 Willow Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Whitethroats
and 2 Wheatears.
Others
1 Mandarin, 62 Ringed Plovers, 78 Sanderlings, 36 Dunlins, 10
Black-tailed Godwits, 1 Spotted Redshank, 2 Greenshanks, 250 Turnstones and 1 Med. Gull.
