A fall of Wheatears along the coast was the highlight today. An approaching rain band from the north-east hit the peninsular late morning and dropped 85 Wheatears in, but the afternoon was a wash out with persistent heavy rain.

After a foggy, but relatively calm, start to the day the first Meadow Pipit and Greenfinches were ringed for the Autumn and after the weather cleared mid-morning Hirundines were again on the move. The star bird today was undoubtedly a superb juvenile Hobby which flew through in the afternoon.

The wind eased down during the morning, the sun came out and it became warm and humid during the afternoon. This kick started a movement of Swallows and a total of 2,141 moved south between 12:30 -16:00. Also an Osprey came in off the sea.
